How to check if your Windows license is retail
Share
Many people experience problems after purchasing Windows license keys from bad dealers because they often sell 'Volume License' or 'OEM' keys.
A Volume License, commonly referred to as a volume key, is sold to organizations and companies and has a validity period. Once the validity period expires, the activation will be expired.
An OEM key is installed on computers when they are sold, and if you try to activate it on a different computer, the activation can be revoked after while.
The only key type allowed to be sold to individuals is the 'Retail' key.
Winstall only sells genuine retail keys, not illegally sold low-priced volume or OEM keys, and we want to show you how to verify this.
A retail key, once properly activated, will never lose its activation, so you can use it with confidence.
Click the Start menu search bar and type 'cmd'.
This is the process for running the Command Prompt.
In the Command Prompt, type 'slmgr /dlv' and press Enter. A window will be appeared.
It is a retail key only if 'Retail' appears in the Product Key Channel.
